New York Thermal Energy Networks Summit

Description

Location
Albany Capital Center

The Building Decarbonization Coalition, NYS Pipe Trades Association and City & State NY are proud to present The NY Thermal Energy Networks Summit: Scale up! Decarbonizing NY’s Neighborhoods at the Albany Capital Center the morning of March 6th.

The NY Thermal Energy Networks Summit will bring together industry experts, labor leaders, policymakers, and elected officials to discuss how Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) work, where and how they can be deployed in NY, and why this type of neighborhood-scale building decarbonization solution will play a key role in helping the state meet its emission reduction mandates under the CLCPA. TENs provide efficient, affordable, and reliable clean heating & cooling to entire neighborhoods through a shared network of water pipes that transfer heat in and out of buildings. These neighborhood-scale systems allow buildings to exchange heat with several energy sources, such as lakes and rivers, energy intensive buildings, wastewater systems, or the stable temperature of the earth. These systems will allow New York to decarbonize its buildings and grow its clean heat economy, while protecting existing and creating new union jobs.

New York has positioned itself to be a national leader in using TENs with utility projects for several of these neighborhood-scale decarbonization infrastructure projects proposed for development across the state. Join your colleagues on March 6th to network and discuss how New York can use Thermal Energy Networks to decarbonize its buildings at scale, support well-paid union careers, and ensure all communities have equitable access to affordable clean energy.

Advancing Geothermal Development In New Mexico

Description
April 18-19, 2024
Location
Socorro, New Mexico
Date
Topics

The workshop will be at the Fidel Center on the campus of New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM. The workshop is free, and breakfast and lunch will be provided for in-person participants. A virtual option is also available. The meeting is timed to coincide with the NM Geological Society annual spring meeting on April 19, which this year is focused on renewable energy development in New Mexico. The NMGS meeting will also be on the NM Tech campus at Macey Center.

Agenda

The workshop will include presentations and panel discussions designed to urge utilities to incorporate thermal storage networks and geothermal power plants into their alternative energy portfolios, encourage New Mexico tribes and pueblos to develop direct use projects, and inspire the oil industry to be involved in advancing geothermal energy development in New Mexico. We will also consider technical aspects of development and policy, economic, and regulatory issues. The goal is to craft a plan for forming partnerships and accelerating geothermal development in the Land of Enchantment.

"Catalyzing Investment for Geothermal Development in Africa " - ARGeo

ARGeo was officially launched in November 2010 at the opening session of the Third African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGeo-C3) in Djibouti..

UN Environment ARGeo project aims at supporting the development of the large untapped geothermal resource potential in the Eastern Africa region with the main objective of reducing the risks associated with the resource’s exploration. ARGeo also aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by promoting the adoption of geothermal energy in the region.

ARGeo will also help demonstrate that the resource is reliable, cost effective and indigenous as compared to other sources of power in the Eastern Africa region. The utilization of the resource in agriculture and industry will also be promoted.

Wisconsin Geothermal Association Annual Conference

Description
February 21, 2024
Location
Madison, Wisconsin
Date
Topics

You are invited to attend the Wisconsin Geothermal Association Annual Conference.  Our theme this year is Leveling Up Renewable Energy Through Geothermal.  Without a doubt, the surge in renewable technologies is here!  The market has responded to some of the best incentives yet offered for renewable projects, and geothermal heating/cooling industry is a big part of that growth.

We’ve experienced huge growth as more and more property owners are motivated not only by incentives, but by lower operational costs, energy price stability, lower carbon footprint, and more.  This conference will provide a balance of the policy and the practice behind the design and installation of geothermal heating and cooling systems and address some of the opportunities – like beneficial electrification and net zero energy – and challenges – like training, as the industry expands to meet this new demand.
