Background

On December, 31, 2024, Geothermal Rising announced the acquisition of the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) to form Geothermal Rising Canada. The acquisition was approved unanimously by all CanGEA members, the Board of Geothermal Rising, and the former Board of CanGEA. Geothermal Rising Canada will continue the pivotal community engagement and policy education work of CanGEA in Canada – a legacy of nearly two decades of informing and educating decision-makers in Canada. Geothermal Rising Canada is thrilled to build and amplify the momentum of geothermal technology adoption in Canada.

About the Canada Policy Council
The Canada Geothermal Rising Policy Council (Canada GRPC) will be made up of stakeholders in Canada’s geothermal energy industry– which may include direct-use geothermal, geothermal electricity generation, ultra-deep geothermal, oil and gas co-production, district heating, space heating and ground-source heat pumps. A collective, unified voice of industry stakeholders is critical to catalyze the massive potential of the Canadian geothermal energy industry– the Canada GRPC serves as the forum to bring these voices together to discuss issues, solve problems, reach consensus on joint-interests and initiatives, and educate agencies and public office holders.
