Geothermal Rising Student Committee

For our next Next Gen Geo webinar, we're delighted to welcome Mohammad (Jabs) Aljubran, PhD, Research Scientist with the Stanford Geothermal Program in the Department of Energy Science & Engineering at Stanford University. Jabs will walk us through the Stanford Thermal Model, which uses physics-informed neural networks to support geothermal exploration by bringing together machine learning and the physics of heat in the subsurface.

Whether you're curious about where AI fits into the energy transition, working on exploration yourself, or simply want to see how subsurface temperature is modelled at scale, we'd love for you to join us. There will be time for questions, so feel free to bring yours along.

Congratulations to our nine winners of the 2026 Geothermal Rising Student Research Award! This award, now in its 5th year, is administered by the Geothermal Rising Student Committee with the help of several judges to whom we owe deep gratitude. We had 21 applicants in this competitive contest, split into Bachelor’s, Masters, and PhD categories, with each applicant submitting a 2-page extended abstract and a 5-minute recorded presentation. We are happy to have had many winners present their research at the 2026 GRC in Houston, TX last week and be recognized at the Awards Ceremony. We wish them all the best and look forward to their continued academic impact on the industry.
