Come learn about the latest geothermal projects being planned in Texas!

Geothermal energy is heating up in Texas!

Sage Geosystems recently announced it will be building a first of its kind 3MW commercial facility, called EarthStore™, in Texas using their innovative technology that harvests energy from pressurized water stored deep underground. Thanks to the work of the Texas Geothermal Energy Alliance and the leadership of legislators like Senator Brian Birdwell, several key bills supporting the expansion of geothermal energy passed last session.

As part of UT Energy Week, this Energy Innovation Forum brings together leading experts to discuss the latest geothermal technology breakthroughs, the status of implementing geothermal related legislation from last session and what more the legislature can do to support this rapidly growing industry.

Join us on Tuesday, March 26th from 4:00 - 5:30pm at the Capitol to hear from this incredible line up of speakers:

After an overview presentation by Dr. Ken Wisian, Matt Welch will moderate our panel discussion with Sen. Brian Birdwell, Cindy D. Taff, Jennifer Bremer, Dr. Ken Wisian and Jason Sorter. An audience Q&A will be followed by a networking reception with food and drinks in the Members Lounge.

Tickets are free, but your generous donations help us continue being able to provide these free educational events.

Exploring Digital Solutions to Increase Geothermal Powerplant Productivity and Longevity Workshop

Description
Geothermal Rising and BiaTech Corporation are partnering on this workshop to seek to answer the question: How do we extend the life of existing geothermal power plants?

Workshop Summary

Geothermal Rising and BiaTech Corporation are partnering once again on this workshop to seek to answer the question: How do we extend the life of existing geothermal power plants?

If new geothermal plant construction takes 6 to 8 years to site, fund, permit, construct, connect to the grid and commission, the near-term opportunity for geothermal’s unique base-load renewable power is to produce more from plants we have and extend their life. We live in a disposable culture with solar and wind also challenged to extend life versus scrap and replace. How does geothermal disrupt the disposable cultural mindset?

Workshop Goals and Objectives

Workshop attendees will join the facilitators and speakers for a  common purpose:

  • Increase geothermal plant productivity and longevity
  • Discuss data availability and challenges supporting operational decision making
  • Share digital solutions and monitoring innovations
  • Bring together those of similar mission and passion for the greater good
  • Inform BiaTech’s future product development to build tech the industry needs

Participants will have actionable take aways:

  • Understand key geothermal power operating decisions and impact on performance
  • Identify areas of focus for your company
  • Leave with a prioritized list of questions or data needed to improve site performance
  • Build new industry connections and an extended network

The workshop follows Chatham House Rule – participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker, nor that of any other participant, may be shared. This is intended to bring people together, break down barriers, generate ideas that can help the industry grow and agree on likely solutions.

California GEO's Underground Learning Sessions: Drillers’ Roundtable

CaliforniaGeo is pleased to offer a series of online regular meetings we call The Underground  for registered participants.  Some sessions carry AIA Learning Unit credit for an additional fee.  Contact us for details.  Our productions use our Zoom platform, lasting one hour, Noon-to-1pm Pacific Time.  The topic may be an issue, a technique, or a technology—or how certain policies and regulations may affect those.

On March 20th during the Noon Hour (PDT) our next UNDERGROUND will feature a panel of experienced geo drillers to share their knowledge and experience. This session is FREE to all who register!

California needs more qualified geo drillers, and one of our questions will deal with whether or how can a current (water well only) driller could boost the geo drilling effort? Identical underground regional conditions for drilling are extremely rare and drillers need to be ready to meet the moment to preserve production drilling efficiency.
