As states and municipalities nationwide are seeking energy solutions to reduce costs and increase reliability, while reducing and/or eliminating carbon emissions, Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) have quickly emerged as a leading solution to this energy conundrum. New York enacted the Thermal Energy Network and Jobs Act of 2022 which mandates utilities to implement Thermal Energy Networks. Massachusetts enacted clean energy grid legislation in December 2024 that reforms the siting and permitting of clean energy facilities and reforms the gas distribution system to empower the gas to geo transition.
Participants in the 2025 Thermal Energy Networks Symposium will benefit from educational sessions and panels provided by leading industry experts focusing on the financing, design, implementation and installation of TENs systems.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about these cutting-edge solutions, collaborate with your peers and make new contacts to help you move forward with your TENs project!

Geothermal Capitol Hill Day is where policy meets possibility.
Each year, geothermal experts, engineers, students, and business leaders head to Washington to connect with Congressional leaders and showcase the power and promise of geothermal energy. This high-impact, two-day experience offers direct advocacy opportunities with lawmakers and a firsthand look at the policymaking process.
2025 Event Recap
Our Geothermal Capitol Hill Day event this year was a huge success! We welcomed 52 participants from 31 organizations representing 17 unique sectors within the industry to D.C. We met with over 100 congressional offices to highlight the immense potential of geothermal energy—and the smart policy needed to unlock it. Our conversations focused on the importance of sustained investment in innovation, protecting vital tax credits, and ensuring geothermal has a strong seat at the table in the clean energy transition.
From cutting-edge startups to established developers, our delegation showcased the breadth and strength of the U.S. geothermal industry. Together, we're advancing a future where geothermal plays a central role in reliable, affordable, clean energy nationwide.
Thank you to all who participated and to the policymakers who took time to engage with us. The momentum is building—and geothermal is just getting started.

For the first time, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Geothermal Rising are bringing together geothermal, critical minerals and gases to explore the connections between them, either in the formation of the reservoirs or reserves, or in exploring for, evaluating, and producing them. Specifically, the conference will bring together geothermal, lithium, geologic hydrogen, helium, iodine, and more in the form of technical presentations, probing panel discussions, poster sessions, and more.
Schedule:
Thursday, 6 June 2024, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (CDT)
Friday, 7 June 2024, 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM PM (CDT)
Registration fee includes continental breakfast, coffee breaks, buffet lunch and end-of-day reception on Thursday.
Join Geothermal Rising (GR) and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) at the 2024 Subsurface Geothermal Symposium: New Technology Drilling and Subsurface Characterization. This geothermal subsurface program will bring together communities and subject matter experts in all different types of geothermal reservoirs – conventional hydrothermal, EGS, closed loop, and sedimentary geothermal. Recognizing that each geothermal technology type is unique, but overlaps in learnings and best practices can be applied across technologies, and this program will do just that! We will explore challenges and opportunities with each reservoir type, exploration methodologies, reservoir modelling methodologies and technological advances, drilling & well design, reservoir characterization, reservoir management, and fracture networks. This workshop-style symposium will present compelling technical talks, panels, networking and ample time for group discussion allow for cross-specialty learning.
The 2nd Annual Geothermal Transition Summit for North America (GTS NA) will be returning on May 21-22, 2024 at The Hilton Greenway Plaza in Houston, where industry leading speakers will be delving into the topics in this report further alongside presenting major regional case studies. This year, we are partnering with Geothermal Rising to look at the industry with a strategic focus. Engage in discussions on early-project development, industry policies, the synergy with the oil and gas industry, methods to enhance commerciality, and explore case studies from ground-breaking projects.
Speakers leading this discussion include representatives from Ormat, Fervo Energy, Baker Hughes, NREL, and the Baseload Group.
The 2025 Geothermal Rising Conference (GRC) will be held October 26-29 in at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada. The GRC is the geothermal industry’s flagship annual conference, reflecting the global nature of the geothermal industry and bringing together people in industry, academia, government, and the general public. Here we build relationships, discuss our opportunities and challenges, educate on the latest technologies and innovations, and inform people outside our community about geothermal energy.
