Geothermal Rising Student Committee
We are excited to bring back the annual Geothermal Rising Student Research Award, formerly known as the Student Paper Contest. This award celebrates innovative research from our student members in areas like exploration, engineering, policy, education, and outreach. Awardees will be notified before our annual meeting in September, where their research will be featured prominently, offering invaluable exposure to industry professionals and peers. Cash prizes will also be awarded!
Apply by August 31st to be considered for this award
Eligibility:
- Current undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a recognized educational institution (2025-2026 graduates are also eligible)
- Must disclose research funding/support
- Must be a Geothermal Rising student member
How to Participate:
- Submit an extended abstract (1000 words max, 2 pages max, 12pt Times New Roman, single spacing)
Include introduction, research objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions
- Submit a 3-5 minute recorded presentation

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our fifth Student Research Award! Congratulations to our 5 winners from the PhD, Masters, and undergraduate category who impressed us with the quality and rigor of their research. Each applicant did a tremedous job, and we are thrilled to recognize the "groundbreaking" work our students are doing. Also, thank you to our judges who spent many hours reviewing applications.
