2026 Geothermal Discovery Day

Get ready for a fun-filled day of curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning at Geothermal Discovery Day 2026 at Children’s Museum Houston, presented in partnership with the annual Geothermal Rising Conference in Downtown Houston!

Families, educators, students, and STEM enthusiasts are invited to enjoy interactive geothermal demonstrations, hands-on STEM activities, creative crafts, games, and more. Discover how heat from inside the Earth can help power our homes, schools, and communities.

Guests will also have the exciting opportunity to meet geothermal scientists, engineers, and energy professionals while exploring the science and technology behind this renewable energy resource.

• Space is limited; registration closes once capacity is reached.

• All registered guests are welcome to explore Children’s Museum Houston after the program until 5 p.m.

Times are estimated and subject to change.

• 11:00 a.m. – Welcome and Geothermal 101 presentation in the Brown Foundation Auditorium
• 11:30 a.m. – Guests will be divided into three groups and guided to their first activity room
• 11:40 a.m. – Geothermal Demonstration 1: Drilling for Geothermal Cake in the One World Room
• 12:20 p.m. – Groups rotate to their next activity room
• 12:30 p.m. – Geothermal Demonstration 2: Digging into Geology and Volcanology in the Tree Top Room
• 1:10 p.m. – Groups rotate to their final activity room
• 1:50 p.m. – Geothermal Demonstration 3: Connecting with Electricity and Heat Transfer in the Brown Auditorium 
• 2:30 p.m. – All groups return to the Brown Foundation Auditorium
• 2:45 p.m. – Q&A session, closing remarks, and special gifts for all attendees
• 3:00 p.m. – Geothermal Discovery Day concludes, and guests are invited to explore the Museum
• 5:00 p.m. – Children’s Museum Houston closes for the day
